The Arcane Gyres staff could have been far more popular than it is were it not for the laziness of its creator, Harold Lagfoot. He is certainly a skilled craftsman, and his design is simply magical. However, none of the materials used are rare or exquisite in any way. The shaft is simple iron, painted to look presentable. The casing for the crystal focus is glass, tempered to give a frosted appearance towards the center, and criss-crossed with thin strands of pliable platinum before it hardened. No, this easily replicated this staff shouldn't be rare. Yet it is. Attempts have been made to copy this staff and take advantage of the demand for it. For some reason though, no attempt has been successful. There is no explanation for this. However, the rumor is that Harold cast a spell so that if his design was ever copied, it would fail.
