# Land

The Cosmic Universe metaverse is divided into tokenized plots of land, which act as homes and bases of operation for players and their structures and settlements.

Plots can be upgraded over time using a variety of resources and items that can be found within the game. Plots of land are represented as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and can be freely traded by players.

The size of each plot is a massive **50m x 50m** of land with varying topography. This means there could be ponds, rivers, hills, mountains, trees, rock outcroppings, caves, and more on a player’s land. Rather than going with a “bare land” approach to our land, we are following a more dynamic, enriching, and organic model. This is also why the Cosmic Island landmap is not a typical square map but instead an island with natural contours, full of peninsulas, coves, and more. Different regions and biomes follow natural contours in the environment, just as exist in the real world.

The long-term roadmap contains several planets within the game that can be portaled to, with each having its own unique root race and land map.

Holding even just one strategically-located land plot will provide abundant in-game rewards that can be converted and capitalized on. Another rewarding aspect of holding land is land staking.
