Background lore for Cosmic Wizards

Eteru, the Aether Elemental, conjured the Wizards using the essence of the Tree of Magic on Cosmic Island on the planet Crypton. There are male and female wizards, light and dark skinned. Some wizards even had their skin turned blue as the power of the Aether shard fused them together. Each wizard adorns themselves with a unique style in accordance with their personalities.
Wizards are cooperative in nature and are naturally inclined to help others in their realm. As such, they are driven to live in communities, and many plan to make small settlements all over Cosmic Island, building villages and forming guilds together. Those who had been deemed Cosmic Enchanters by Eteru secured the land around the Tree of Magic. Together they built, in secret, a highly advanced city and a place where visiting wizards can come seeking adventure and reward. For most of the wizards on Cosmic Island it was only known as Tree City. Its real name is Enchanteria.
Being the first intelligent lifeform to be created from the Aether shard gives the wizards an inherent advantage in using magic. They were imbued with the most natural talent for spells, alchemy, and inscription. However, they were prone to perfectionism and, as such, Schools of Magic were created in each of these disciplines to further hone their skills and knowledge. While many wizards will attend more than one of these schools in their lifetime, they usually only become masters in one of them.
The majority of the Wizard race count themselves as the masters of magic, and for all intents and purposes they are. However, there are many who jealously guard the secrets of their magic - refusing to share their knowledge and skill. Trolls and Apes are regarded as particularly clumsy and aren’t accepted as students of most of the Schools.
The following make up the pentacle of the Schools of Magic:
The school of Alchemy is the most accepting of students amongst all of the wizard schools. They are even open to accepting Trolls and Apes, which is a concept the other schools couldn’t even dream of doing. However, for their acceptance, they will gain a deeper understanding of the magical properties contained in the plants and other resources throughout Crypton. The school teaches its students to make elixirs, flasks, potions and ointments for almost any use, and the masters will sell them at the market to fund their students. Members of the School of Alchemy will often be dressed outlandishly, decorated (usually through some mishap in the laboratory) with bright colours and shiny adornments. It’s difficult to miss an alchemist in a crowd.
Conjurers are one of the more respected magic schools for Wizards. They are the only school of magic to have mastered the use of spells to conjure beings out of the aether and into existence for a short time. Many of the masters of this school are tasked with the protection of the Tree of Magic and the sanctum beneath its roots. It is not uncommon to see an ethereal-looking creature walking alongside one of these wizards along the roads of Cosmic Island. While not as flamboyant as their alchemist counterparts, conjurers often wear brightly coloured robes and tend to style themselves well.
The School of Enchantment is the smallest amongst the magical disciplines. Many of the spells they use are frowned upon for use in general social situations and, as such, these wizards are treated with caution and even suspicion. Even though Cosmic Island and the other islands of Crypton are mostly peaceful there are those who cause mischief and mayhem on occasion. In order to bring these miscreants to justice, enchanters are a prominent figure in the lawmaking and law keeping roles. One simple spell from an enchanter and a lawbreaker will tell them what they did, who they did it with, and if they plan to do it again. Enchanters are dressed well and are usually very talkative.
Master Evokers are the most fearsome and powerful wizards. Their spells are the most complex and advanced among all the schools and teach control of elemental powers, manipulation of weather, and even managing the arcane itself, the strongest of magical energy. This school also teaches the art of transmutation, the skill of turning one thing into another. Not seen as a broad enough subject to have its own school, those who study this are often wizards who struggle to reach the higher ranks of an Evoker. The weather on Cosmic Island is controlled by the members of this guild to bring continual bountiful harvests. Evokers will carry the most unique staves, but otherwise have serious faces with little to no humour. To be a Master Evoker, a wizard has to have attained at least the rank of Mystic Master.
If a Scribe has but one identifying feature, it is the spectacles that appear as soon as the Wizard enters the school. Seen as the most boring of the schools, it can quite often be overlooked. However, the knowledge kept in the halls of this school is beyond comparison in all the known realms (including the Ascended Realm). In order to be a master of this school, a Wizard must have attended all the other schools previously and be a master in at least one. The few Wizards who have attained the rank of Master in more than one school are quite often a member of the School of Inscription. Trusted with the task of writing magical scrolls, as well as documenting histories, these Wizards have perhaps the most important role of all. When a Wizard is declared a master of this school they are presented with an extremely rare magical quill that some say gives the holder the power to alter reality itself. Scribes are usually boring looking, with plain robes and simple staves. Etherea Lumina are automatically considered members of this School.
Every wizard has the possibility of earning themselves a companion when they reach the rank of Master Explorer. Once they have attained the requirements, a Wizard will undertake the ritual in the Sanctum of the Tree which has been built amongst the roots of the Tree of Life in the center of the island. It is a mystery to those who have not undergone the ritual exactly what happens. However, when the wizard emerges it is with a magical dragon companion. This companion is for life and is bound to the Wizard who created it.
